Challenge

Mats Bengtsson from the award-winning The Collector´s Hotels (for example “Bästa hotell i Sverige”) reached out to me regarding a pin design. Knowing my focus on crafting things by hand he felt we could be a great fit. The Collector’s Hotels are situated in the heart of Old Town, Stockholm. In their hotels, you are surrounded by an incredible collection of antiques, currently the fifth largest private collection of maritime objects in the world. They wanted to create a fancier name sign for their employees work uniform – an alternative to the more boring traditional one.

Solution

Mats had an idea of using an anchor as the base for the design – the reason for that, is of course, the hotels collection of antique maritime objects. So, I started sketching an anchor – and added a banner that could work as an area for adding the employee’s name. After a few revisions we landed on a final design.
